Barkadera Beacon
Barkadera Beacon is a local news platform reporting for Bonaire and the wider Dutch Caribbean. In 2020, the team behind it came to Blendr to launch the outlet from the ground up, with a brand identity, a website and the copy to match.
Starting a news platform is really about starting a relationship of trust with readers, and that trust has to be in place before the first story is published. Barkadera Beacon needed a brand identity and website compelling enough to stand out in Bonaire's media landscape, and credible enough to be taken seriously from day one. The task was to make a brand new outlet feel established, local and worth returning to.
Barkadera Beacon needed to establish itself as a trusted voice in Bonaire's media landscape, so we built everything around clarity and local character. We shaped a visual identity that feels rooted in the island rather than borrowed from elsewhere, then carried that same tone into the website and the copy. The aim was a platform that readers in Bonaire would recognize as their own, and that felt confident and dependable from the very first visit.
- Brand Identity: a logo and full visual system designed to feel unmistakably of Bonaire
- Web Development: a clean, readable news website built to carry the outlet from launch onward
- Copywriting: clear, confident words that introduce Barkadera Beacon to its readers
Barkadera Beacon went live in 2020 with a brand, a website and a voice that all pull in the same direction, ready to take its place in Bonaire's media landscape. For a new outlet, that shared identity is what turns a first-time visitor into a returning reader. Founder Rob van den Berge summed up the collaboration in his own words.
Amazing work done. The logo design feels like Bonaire and the website looks great. Timely work.
