Government Communications Design, Bonaire

Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire (OLB) is the public entity that governs the island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean, responsible for keeping residents informed on official matters. Since 2021, Blendr has been its design partner for public communications.

The challenge

The OLB needed to communicate government messaging to the public of Bonaire clearly and consistently, no matter the channel. That called for print media, design collateral and social media content that all spoke with a single, recognisable voice. Without a shared visual language, official information risked looking fragmented and harder for residents to follow.

Our approach

Working closely with the public entity of Bonaire, we developed a cohesive visual language for their communications. We then carried that language across every format the OLB relies on, from print media and design collateral to the social media content residents see every day, so each piece reads as part of the same government voice. Consistency was the priority throughout: shared layouts, typography and design cues that make official information instantly recognisable whether it appears in a printed brochure or a post on a phone screen. Because the collaboration began in 2021 and is still active, we treat the identity as a living system rather than a one-off project. As new campaigns, announcements and public information roll out across the island, we keep the look and feel steady, so the OLB can communicate quickly without ever losing its visual coherence.
